Previous Research (2003 and Before) IN SPANISH

• Exchange rate implications of a sudden reversal in the USA current account Deficit. Calculates a two sector model of tradables vs non-tradable to calculate the dollar devaluation resulting from a cero CC deficit in the USA. I wrote this in 2001 (When you could buy an Euro for 95 US cents) after an Economic Policy Seminar given by Guillermo Calvo in Santiago, Chile; but I discarded it because after programming the model in my house that evening, it predicted a devaluation of the US dollar of 40%... It was obviously wrong that somebody had to pay $1.33 US dollars per one Euro !!
• Finance. Mexican Stock Exchange Returns: Efficient of Chaotic Markets? Test the Efficient Market Hyphotesis, looks for evidence of Chaotic Activity in the Mexican Stock Market. Appealing because it does find evidence for some chaotic activity.
• Empirical Estimation of Real Exchange Rate, and Equilibrium Real Exchange Rate for Chile. Estimates a RER model for the Chilean Economy. I didn't use to believe in the existence of a "real" exchange rate, so I calculated one empirically. I do believe in them now!
• Estimation of an Scandinavian Inflation Model for Chile. Written originally in 2001 with Luis Enrique Camacho, it can be used to forecast inflation.
• Demand Estimation for Imports in the Chilean Economy. Another excercise in a series of empirical estimations.
• Empirical estimation of a Wage equation for Chile. Input for a bigger macroeconomic model, that will estimate the supply side of the real economy.
• The final step to get a Master's Degree at Pontifical Catholic University of Chile is to Estimate a working macroeconomic model of the economy as a whole. This is basically the same model that IMF uses to forecast economic trends for every country. I wrote this big macro model with Carolina Rovira and Luis Enrique Camacho. It can be modified (it will take a lot of work though!) to any country to get a "Crystal Ball" where we can find predictions for the main macro variables of interest.
